Plans for this shoot
This will be my first shoot on my personal topic of the environment. This is simply an introduction to my topic, so I would like to achieve a range of different shots. For this shoot I plan to shoot in my garden, and focus my shots around the greenery in my garden. This is an introduction to my personal topic of the environment, and I plan to show this in a positive way by shooting nature in my garden. This is most likely to be of leaves, and bushes in order to show life in the plants that I find in my garden. Most of these photos will also be close up using a macro lens in order to produce the most effective and detailed shots.
What I hope to achieve
In this shoot, I plan to achieve macro shots in the main of plants in my garden. I will shoot a range of different photos with different ideas behind them and I will alter the compositions and experiment with what works best so that I have a range to choose from when I come to editing them. I may also try to get a few shots with insects in the frame if possible, because I feel that this shows the true idea of a lively environment which is what I am hoping to achieve from this shoot.
What I actually achieved
In the main, I am happy with this shoot and as it was my first shoot I was not expecting too much as I am experimenting with ideas at the moment. I think I achieved what I wanted from this shoot, which was to reflect the environment in a positive way and show an environment with life. This may range from plants, and insects that I may find. I also think that including water in some of my photos also represents what I was trying to show as it is something pure from the environment and that I have not altered.
I like this photo of the water droplets on the leaf because it is simple and the droplets are lined up on the edge of the leaf and create a pattern. I like the composition of this photo also as the side of the leaf is appearing from the top of the frame and the leaf at the front is in focus compared with the blur background. I purposely shot this photo with a shallow depth of field in order to give the water a focal point to the focus because that is what I wanted to define. However, one thing I don't like is that a couple of droplets on the right-hand side are slightly out of focus compared with the rest.
I like the composition of this photo as it is to the side, but as the flower is the only object in focus it still remains the main part of the photo. One thing I don't like about this photo is that there is not a large amount of definition in the centre of the flower as the main colour is white so there isn't much contrast in colours. Here, I have also shot with quite a shallow depth of field in order to make the flower more defined.

What I plan to do next
For my next shoot, I plan to focus my shoot around trees and the textures I may find when exploring trees which may come from the bark and the leaves. This time of the year is a good time to photograph trees as they are going through a transition from summer to autumn so you begin to see autumnal colours. The shoot I will be doing will be a location shoot as I think that this will be most effective in gaining the shots I would like for my second personal shoot.
