Work Diary- Sequencing

Evaluation

This shoot I think went better than I had anticipated because I did not have any particular direction to this shoot therefore the ideas were not as well thought out as I would have liked. I had around 5 idea,s however I wasn't sure how well I would be able to execute them as it is harder to control factors such as lighting outside therefore I was slightly restricted when on location shoot. I think sequencing is quite a simple technique, and joining the photos together on Photoshop manually gives you a higher level of control and you can take many photos to put in a sequence and choose the ones that you want to.

The photo below is my favourite from this shoot. I like the colours in this photo as I feel that the pink in the flower goes well with the greenery in the background, I think that the central composition in this photo has worked well as it seems to give a good effect across the photos. One thing I don't like about this photo is that I found it difficult to position the camera so that it was in the same place throughout the sequence of photos which is why they have not turned out as well as I had hoped. However, I think this could be overcome if I used a tripod to stabilise the frame so that no movement occurs across these.

I am not overly happy with this sequence for a few reasons. Firstly, the position of the camera is in a different place in all 3 photos so the sequence is not as effective as it would have been as a result. I also think that the idea behind the sequence didn't work as well as I had hoped and the crossing over wasn't very clear what I was trying to show. Despite the position of the camera changing, I feel that this did show sequencing although it was not very successful.

How I plan to use this technique

I could use this technique in many different ways in my personal project as it can be used to tell a story with a sequence of pictures. I think that if the camera is set up on a tripod you are more likely to get a professional finish to your photos which is what I found difficult to achieve in this technical shoot. I think that this would work particularly well with close up shots of flowers, where I could adapt the subject in my photo to show a sequence of movement across the photos.
