Evaluation
I found this technique interesting to experiment with, however it is difficult to achieve a professional looking finish which is why I don't like this technique as much as others. I am happy with some of the shots I achieved in this shoot, however some of the photos I planned to use were not in focus so I was not able to use them. I found that darker coloured patterns worked better with overlapping onto somebody's face compared with a leaf for example that does not have very significant lines in its pattern. I used Photoshop's editing software in order to achieve
I like this photo as the pattern is just on the models face therefore the rest of the photo is as it would normally be. I think that this pattern worked well as the yellow and brown/black in the pattern contrast with each other which darkens the pattern and emphasises its effect. Overall, I am happy with this photo and although it is a relatively simple idea and composition it is successful in what I wanted to achieve.
In this photo, I have erased the stones from the background, and the eyes and mouth using photoshop so that they stand out in the photo against the stone pattern I have inserted. I like the effect that the stones have on the models face as they are quite small stones so that you can see each one individually and it gives an abstract feel to the photo.
How I can use this technique in my work
I think this technique would be useful in using patterns and creating abstract pieces in my work. Although I don't think it will play a large role in my work I think that experimenting with different layers and changing the opacity to create a unique effect. I found that darker patterns worked best, so if I carried this through to my personal topic I would need to consider this.
