Picture examples:

This photo shows the contrast between dead and alive elements in the environment with the flower on the left-handside that is alive and the one on the right which is wilting. I like the bright colours in this photo, as the muted colours in the wilted flower help to show this. One thing I don't like about this photo however is the composition as in my opinion the cropping is not correct as it is slightly too cut off from the bottom and it needs to be cropped more so from the right-hand side.
The atmosphere of this photo is something I really like, as the reflection from the sky on the water creates warm tones of oranges that complement the darker blues on the waters surface. I also like the shape in the background from the mountain/cliff as it creates a harsh line against the softer colours that are on the water. The clouds in this picture are also very dramatic, which gives the sense of extreme weather conditions as it is clearly thick cloud.

This picture on the left shows an extreme weather scene, which may be a result of global warming. I like the dramatic effect that the darkened sky has on the photo and it creates an emphasis on the storm. I also like the contrasting colours of the ground which are a burnt orange and the grey clouds as they work well to create the idea of a dramatic storm. Also, because this is a rare sight it makes the photo more unique as it is not something you would typically see for yourself so for the audience it is made more interesting.

From a technical perspective, I don't think this photo requires a high skill to take, however I do like the effect of the photo as it gives off the impression of a cold winters night, as the bare tree covered with snow tell us this. I think the tones of blue/purple work well as a gradient effect across the sky, and the trees/hills in the background stand out against this.

Real life example (see folder for physical evidence)

My own definition:

The environment is an area in which something living is situated, and the conditions and geographical factors will vary. Activities may also take place in many different environments.
