Plans for the shoot
For this shoot, I plan to travel to Northweald in order to shoot in a forest type of environment again. However this time, I will focus more on the changing seasons, and the not so 'pretty' side of this change. This may include shots of decaying leaves as they transform, this may show that they are not as full of life has my previous shots have been of the bold colours within the environment. I may also try to take pictures of objects in the environment that indicate the season of autumn, this may include things such as conkers and blackberries that I hopefully will find.
What I hope to achieve
From this shoot I hope to achieve a range of different shoots showing the change of seasons, and the elements within this season. The autumnal feel will hopefully be shown in the photos by using warm colours such as orange and brown tones. I am not planning to do very close up photos, as I should be able to achieve landscape type shots with a standard lens. I have seen some photos online during research which have inspired my work which is why I may choose to re create something similar to this.
What I actually achieved
I am not entirely happy with this shoot, as I feel that I did not gain as many successful shots as I would have liked. I am happy with a couple of the pictures, however I wish I had used my macro lens for this shoot as I did not take it with me so was not able to do this. I think this would have provided me with some extra shots as when I attempted to do semi-close up shots with my standard lens some of the photos were not in focus, which was frustrating. If you look at the shots I am happy with, you can see what I was trying to show in the picture; which was the autumnal season which is shown with the brown tones in the photos which also displays the change in weather temperatures.
I altered the saturation down in this photo, although I think that it does not display the season of autumn leaves as well it gives a less vibrant and softer feel to the photo. I also like that the leaves stretch across the length of the photo, and that they appear to come from the bottom of the photo. One thing I do not like is that the background is more in focus than I would have liked.
This is my favourite photo from the shoot. This is because it shows the changing of seasons between the green summer leaves and the orange leaves that are taking up a larger portion of the leaf. I also like the fact the background in this photo is blurred, as the focus point of the photo is the leaves in the foreground which is what I wanted.
I wasn't entirely happy with this photo initially, however I have added duplicate layers on Photoshop and made a blurred and 'trippy' type of effect. I think this makes it more unrealistic, and as though the person who took the photo was hallucinating. I like the textures in the mushroom, as it has been broken and makes the surface of the mushroom more interesting. I also like the shadows in this photo, as to the right of the photo it creates more depth to the photo and gives the impression it was taken in a low-lit forest or something similar.
I do not really like the composition of this photo, as I feel that there is not as much of the image blurred as I would have liked. The focus should have been on the leaves in the foreground, which I feel it is however it takes up too much of the photo. I also think the colours look too 'summery', despite this I think the yellow and green colours are vibrant and contrast well together.
