Plans for the shoot
For this shoot, I plan to shoot in a forest in order to have a different environment in my photo compared with the rest of my shoots so far. As this is a heavy forested place, I think that getting pictures of trees will be a significant part of my shoot. I will shoot any wildlife I also may come across also as I feel this is a large part of the environment so if I am able to capture this I will be happy with the outcome. I also plan to photograph a water source if there is one, even though it may be man made I think this will show the 'life' within a natural environment.
What I hope to achieve
I hope to achieve a range of different shoots, however I will be using my standard lens for this shoot therefore I will not be shooting many close up photos and I hope to achieve landscape shots. In my shots, I hope to also have different tones of green in my shots as I feel that green colours will help represent the life in the environment as I will be trying to show the environment in a positive light in this shoot.
What I actually achieved
I think I achieved what I wanted to from this shoot, and I feel that this shoot was successful. I think I managed to shoot shots that had bright colours in them, and I tried to consider to compositions of my photos and the concept behind the photos. There was a lot of life in the forest, and I feel that the season allowed me to show flowers that were on display and the greenery in the tree leaves.
What I plan to do next
For my next shoot, I plan to shoot in the studio. I plan to shoot the contrast between dead and alive plants. This will be done by shooting petals in the studio and comparing the two petals. I will mainly be shooting macro lens shots in the studio as I feel close up shots will give me the most effective result.
I like the textures in this photo, as the wood has split therefore this creates a very scruffy texture on the top of the surface which has been captured in the photo. I think this works well with a shallow depth of field as the focal point is on the edge of the wood, therefore the background being blurred is effective. I wish I had spent more time taking photos of this, as I feel that from different perspectives I could have focused on the nail more as the grey stands out against the orange/brown tones in the wood.
One thing that I don't like about this photo is that the background is 'busy' meaning that because the main point of this photo was to photograph the nearest tree there is another tree on the right-hand side that is interfering with this. Despite this, the perspective of this photo has worked well, as it shows the height of the tree. I also like the orange colours in the bark, as this adds another element to the photo and creates more texture on the bark. I think this shows the environment well, as it was taken of a living tree in a forest environment and it require very little editing to achieve this.
