Technique Page- Animation

How it can be achieved:

An animation is a group of photographs that are arranged one after another to make the pictures move, although they can be made in different ways there are three main steps you should take if you want to achieve an animation similar to what I have done. I used iMovie to edit my animation, however there are other software and websites available to do this.

An animation generally tells a story, or shows a process as it moves through the stages. Because of this, you want to photograph movement. It can be very simple, and range from activities such as sports, walks, cooking and an ordinary conversation. You will need to figure out what you wish to achieve from the shooting process at this point, by creating a storyboard that your shoot will follow so that you have planned it properly.

The next stage after that is to shoot your photos. There is no set amount to shoot, it all depends on the quality of work you want to produce and what the story behind the shots is. You will progress through your story leaving a possible few seconds between taking the new picture will also depends on how quickly your subject will be moving.

The last stage is editing, this is where you will use a form of software to put these images together to form a story. You may need to cut down a large amount of clips, and spend time searching for some ‘good’ footage. You can also add music and text to your presentation by simply following the guidelines in your software and downloading music from the internet or copying from your personal files.
