Image Bank- Fine Art Photography

It is clear fine art photographs are mainly shot in black and white, and if not then most likely they will later be edited in order to create dramatic shadows and highlights. Chiaroscuro is a technique that some of these photos that I have found on fine art use, this is when something lighter is appearing out of darkness and it is sometimes used to create dramatic pictures and to create an atmosphere of mystery and suspense. A majority of the pictures that I collected for this image bank was portrait photos also, and generally appear to be shot in studios and where the lighting can be controlled more easily with darker backgrounds.

I like the photo of the woman and the pig head on the second picture down. This is because you would not ordinarily expect this in a photo, and it could have many different meanings which as an audience you are supposed to guess as you have little other clues. As well as the concept of this photo, I also like the contrasting shadows on the woman's body and the way the light outlines the curves on her body. The woman would appear to be around the age of 30 because of the type of body she has, and the length of her dark hair appears quite long. However we know very little about this woman's life, so anything we do say will purely be an assumption.

The bottom photo is one that fills the frame, and although it is not as dark and dramatic as the others it also follows the theme of the human body which is what most of these photos I collected from the internet are of. I like the idea behind the photo, as it appears that a man and a woman are in this photo and the close proximity that they share as their bodies touch shows that they are comfortable around each other and most likely share some sort of relationship.
